Introduction to Eventbrite - Adolpho Phillips

I would like to introduce the class to a newer technology called ‘Eventbrite’. I’m sure most of you have heard of ‘Ticket Master’, where major events are planned, seats booked and tickets are sold. Eventbrite is sort of like Ticket Master for the little guy. Anyone can join and create events or even just search for events.

As the introduction states in our text, Social Media and tools are changing and being used increasingly for more and more things. Eventbrite is an example of this. Someone saw a need for regular people to have the ability to professionally plan and organize their events and not have to use all of their resources to advertise and promote.

A few ways that Eventbrite allows to you advertise and promote are that it allows you to send personalized messages to your contact lists. If you have your regulars that always attend you can create a contact list to let them know when and where your next event is happening. It also lets attendees promote on social media such as Facebook,Twitter and Linkedin, so their friends and family get the word. You can add your event to their search engine and directory as well.

The pricing is very reasonable. If you just want to organize your free event and track attendees it’s completely free. If you want to charge it’s only 2.5% + .99 a ticket. It also allows you to accept Paypal and credit cards for a small fee, without having to have a credit card processing service.

If you have a small event that you’re planning and want an easy, inexpensive way to do it, consider trying Eventbrite!
